Features:
- Thermocouple type selection controls the linearization.
- Cold-junction compensation offers internal and external arrangements.
- Limit-value interrupts are available for the measured channels.
The 6ES7331-7PF11-0AB0 input channels are not general-purpose current inputs. Their measurement function is assigned to thermocouples, even though a Pt100 may appear in an external compensation arrangement.
Integration time and interference suppression on 6ES7331-7PF11-0AB0 are configurable. These settings concern measurement processing, rather than changing the number of physically connected sensors.
Fault indication on 6ES7331-7PF11-0AB0 includes a red SF group indicator. Diagnostic messages and interrupt handling supply information beyond the presence of that single LED.
The Siemens 6ES7331-7PF11-0AB0 SM 331 Thermocouple Input Module may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

Choose how the reference junction is represented
- Internal reference: Internal compensation uses the module's internal reference-junction arrangement.
- External reference: A Pt100 can be used for external reference-junction compensation rather than as a general measuring input.
- Compensation socket: A compensation socket provides another supported reference-junction arrangement.
- Fixed reference: A defined reference temperature can be selected instead of measuring an external reference.
Distinguish a measured limit from a diagnostic event
- Process event: Limit-value interrupts relate to a configured measurement limit.
- Diagnostic event: Diagnostic alarms relate to module or channel diagnostic conditions.
- Grouping: Diagnostic interrupt handling is parameterizable by channel group.
- Channel coverage: Hardware-interrupt capability covers channels 0 through 7.
Match the field wiring to thermocouple measurement
- Cable shielding: The permitted field-cable length is specified for shielded cable.
- Terminal connection: Sensor wiring reaches the module through the forty-pin front connector.
- Supply protection: Reverse-polarity protection applies to the external supply connection.
- Input stress: The input-destruction limits describe accidental electrical stress, not an admissible thermocouple measuring range.
Keep measurement modes distinct
- Sensor family: Select a supported thermocouple characteristic for each configured measurement.
- Current signals: The module does not provide a general current-measurement range.
- Resistance signals: Resistance and RTD measurement are not listed as channel measuring modes.
- Voltage signals: Thermocouple acquisition must not be treated as a general-purpose voltage-input function.
