Features:
- Wide-range AC or DC input feeds an S7-400 rack through the PS407 conversion stage.
- Separate 5 V and 24 V rails serve controller electronics and assigned rack functions.
- Redundant operation and backup batteries address different continuity requirements.
Input conversion supplies both rack rails from one isolated mains connection.
A redundant companion supply maintains the rack power path when one input side is unavailable.
Battery, load, output protection, and LED status are checked as separate conditions.

Converting the external supply for the rack
- AC range: The mains circuit can enter through the documented wide AC range.
- DC range: A suitable high-voltage DC source can feed the same input stage.
- Protective earth: The class-I connection bonds the supply chassis to the protective conductor.
- Isolation: The conversion stage separates incoming mains from the rack output rails.
Allocating current between the two supply rails
- 5 V rail: Processor and rack electronics draw from the 10 A output budget.
- 24 V rail: Assigned rack functions draw from the separate 1 A output.
- Load calculation: Every installed module contributes to the applicable rail total.
- Short circuit: Output protection responds when a connected rail exceeds its allowed condition.
Maintaining power through two coordinated sources
- Parallel path: Two compatible supplies feed the redundant rack arrangement.
- Input independence: Each unit requires its own correctly protected incoming circuit.
- Failure response: The remaining source carries the permitted rack load after one supply drops out.
- Capacity check: Redundancy is valid only when either supply can support the required load.
Separating short interruptions from retained-memory support
- Mains buffer: Stored energy bridges a documented 20 ms input interruption.
- Battery function: Installed lithium cells support the assigned S7-400 backup circuit.
- Front LEDs: Input, output, battery, and fault indications narrow the affected section.
- Service check: Battery condition, rail voltage, and rack diagnostics are confirmed independently.
