Features:
- Forty-nine mechanical keys with LEDs place machine functions on a physical operator surface.
- Separate rear connections carry Ethernet, DC supply, customer-key signals and handwheel inputs.
- The front and rear have different protection ratings, defining the cabinet mounting boundary.
Mode selection, program functions and feed override share the mechanical control face of 6FC5303-0AF23-0AA1.
Inputs from customer switches are not the same as the lamp-driving outputs; those two paths use different rear connectors.
The rear clamps secure the panel in its cutout, leaving the front accessible to the operator and the unprotected rear inside the cabinet.
The Siemens 6FC5303-0AF23-0AA1 SINUMERIK MCP 310C PN Machine Control Panel may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

Machine command hardware
- Short-stroke keys: Each mechanical key has an associated LED for operator feedback.
- Customer keys: Sixteen of the front keys are available for machine-specific assignments.
- Feed override: The multi-position rotary switch changes the selected feed or rapid-traverse override command.
- Key switch: The four-position switch provides a separate keyed operating selection.
Port and device-name behavior
- X20/X21: Two rear Ethernet ports provide the panel's network connections.
- S2 mode: The switch positions select IE or PROFINET behavior, with IE set on delivery.
- PN names: In PROFINET mode, address switches can establish a default device name.
- DCP mode: When no default name is selected, the device name is assigned by initialization and stored on the panel.
Switches, lamps and handwheels
- Passive inputs: X51, X52 and X55 accept customer switch contacts.
- Lamp outputs: X53 and X54 drive customer-button lamps rather than inductive loads.
- Handwheel sockets: X60 and X61 provide separate D-sub connections for two handwheels.
- Signal selection: S1 determines whether the handwheel input uses TTL or differential signaling.
Front opening and rear services
- Cutout: The housing fits the specified panel opening and clamps from the rear.
- Front protection: The IP54 front remains on the operator side of the installation.
- Rear protection: The IP00 rear stays inside a suitable enclosure.
- Temperature split: Siemens specifies different operating limits for the front and rear of the installed panel.
