Features:
- Integrates a two-port switch directly into the adapter, allowing daisy-chaining of devices without requiring an external network switch, reducing hardware and wiring costs.
- Can be deployed as a single adapter for non-critical applications or in redundant pairs for high-availability systems requiring fault-tolerant communication.
- Fully RoHS compliant, WEEE Category 5, battery-free, with SCIP registration for environmental compliance.
The TC810 eliminates the need for external network switches in small to medium I/O networks by integrating a 2-port switch directly into the adapter. This built-in switching capability allows field devices and controllers to be daisy-chained together using standard Ethernet cabling, significantly reducing both hardware costs and cabinet wiring complexity. The two RJ45 ports support copper media and provide seamless connectivity to ABB Select I/O systems and 800xA distributed control systems.
The TC810 offers deployment flexibility to match application availability requirements. For non-critical monitoring or control applications, a single TC810 provides cost-effective Ethernet connectivity. For mission-critical processes such as continuous manufacturing or power generation, two TC810 adapters can be configured redundantly alongside two CI845 modules and one TU860/TU865 termination unit.
The TC810 is engineered for space-efficient installation in modern control cabinets,it imposes minimal mechanical load on DIN rails. The adapter complies with EU RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU, restricting hazardous substances and ensuring environmental safety. It falls under WEEE Category 5 (Small Equipment) and contains no batteries, simplifying end-of-life disposal and reducing environmental impact.
The TC810 ABB Ethernet Adapter may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL)by the manufacturer (OEM).

- Process Industries: Heavily deployed in petrochemicals, oil refining, chemical processing, pharmaceuticals, and pulp & paper where continuous 24/7 operation is mandatory and unplanned shutdowns are cost-prohibitive.
- Power & Energy Generation: Utilized in thermal, nuclear, and hydro power plants to handle high-speed data acquisition, turbine control, and safety interlock architectures.
- Digital Marshalling & Distributed Control: Serves as the central Ethernet communication bridge between field-mounted Select I/O or S800 I/O clusters and the central AC 800M controller.
- Extended Temperature Range: Supports operational temperatures from -40°C to +70°C , allowing direct installation in unheated or uncooled remote instrument enclosures (RIEs).
- Marine & Offshore Capability: Carries major maritime approvals (such as DNV and ABS), certifying it for use on offshore drilling rigs, oil platforms, and marine vessels.
- Altitude & Humidity: Operates reliably in 5% to 95% relative humidity (non-condensing) and at altitudes ranging from -1000m to 5000m.
- Built-in 2-Port Switch: Equipped with 2 x RJ45 ports (100Base-TX Copper Media) that support Daisy Chain or Ring topologies (such as MRP) directly at the cabinet level, reducing external switch infrastructure.
- Hardware Hot-Standby Redundancy: Supports dual-module redundancy when mounted on specialized Module Termination Units (MTUs) like the TU860 or TU865. If the primary adapter drops offline or encounters a fault, the backup unit takes over communications within milliseconds without interrupting process data.
- Live Hot-Swapping: Modules can be removed or inserted under power (Hot Swap). The System 800xA engineer station automatically logs the event and alerts operators instantly without disturbing adjacent channels.
