Description
With eight isolated differential channels, the 1771-IL accepts process voltage or current signals while maintaining isolation between individual channels and from each channel to ground.

The Series B module provides 16-bit conversion and supports five documented voltage ranges and three current ranges. Its software configuration also provides engineering-unit scaling, digital filtering, real-time sampling, input alarms, and automatic calibration.

Signal wiring terminates on a 1771-WF field-wiring arm, and the module draws 1.2 A from the 5 V DC chassis backplane. Measurement values, channel status, and configuration information are exchanged with the controller through block-transfer instructions.

The hardware-series designation, channel jumper positions, selected ranges, wiring-arm assignment, grounding, scaling, alarm limits, chassis addressing, and block-transfer files together define the usable configuration of a 1771-IL installation.

FAQS

The following is a list of questions commonly asked by our customers. Please contact us if you have a question about our process that is not answered below.
Can 1771-IL accept both voltage and current transmitters?
Yes. The module supports documented unipolar and bipolar voltage and current ranges, but each channel's range, wiring, scaling, and alarm configuration must match the application.
Can 1771-IL replace a nonisolated 1771 analog input module without rewiring?
Do not assume a drop-in exchange. Compare the field-wiring arm, terminal assignments, signal ranges, addressing, grounding, isolation strategy, scaling, and block-transfer program before selecting 1771-IL.
Can 1771-IL reuse an installed 1771-WF field-wiring arm?
The arm may be retained when its keying, terminals, channel assignments, shields, conductors, and connector condition match the Series B installation; inspect it before transferring the module.
What must be copied before replacing 1771-IL?
Preserve the rack, group, slot, block-transfer instructions, channel ranges, data format, scaling, alarms, calibration settings, and transmitter wiring before removing the installed module.
When should 1771-IL calibration be verified after replacement?
Verify calibration before returning critical loops to service, after wiring or range changes, and whenever the application's accuracy schedule requires it; follow the official offset and gain procedure.
Can 1771-IL be used with different 1771 addressing methods?
The manual documents half-slot, one-slot, and two-slot addressing subject to chassis and processor rules; verify the existing rack configuration and module-group placement.
Why can 1771-IL readings shift after replacement?
Check the selected range, current-versus-voltage wiring, source impedance, shielding, grounding, scaling, calibration, block-transfer data format, and the restored channel configuration.
