The Bently Nevada 3500/23E Transient Data Interface (TDI) serves as the critical interface between the 3500 ENCORE monitoring system and GE’s System 1 condition monitoring and diagnostic software. Installed in the System Monitor slot of a 3500 ENCORE rack, the TDI works alongside vibration monitors (such as the 3500/42E) to continuously capture steady-state and transient waveform data. This data is transmitted through a 10Base-T or 100Base-TX Ethernet connection on the front panel, with autosensing capabilities, to the host system for detailed machinery analysis.
The TDI also provides extensive rear I/O communication options. Serial communications support RS232 or RS422 at speeds ranging from 1200 baud to 115.2 kbaud, while rear Ethernet connections support 10Base-T, autosensing. Static data capture is standard, and transient or dynamic data can be captured with an optional Channel Enabling Disk. This makes the TDI highly versatile for real-time and historical monitoring in industrial applications.
LED indicators on the module provide clear operational status: the Rack OK LED confirms the 3500 ENCORE system is functioning properly, the TDI OK LED shows proper TDI operation, the TM LED indicates Trip Multiply mode, and the CONFIG OK LED signals a valid system configuration. With an operating temperature range of 0 °C to +65 °C (32 °F to 149 °F) and storage from -40 °C to +85 °C (-40 °F to +185 °F), the module is built for demanding industrial environments.
Battery life is exceptional, with a powered TDI lasting up to 38 years at 50 °C (122 °F) and an un-powered TDI retaining data for up to 12 years at the same temperature. Requiring only Slot 1 next to the power supplies in the 3500 ENCORE rack, the Bently Nevada 3500/23E is essential for seamless integration of vibration data into condition monitoring systems and process automation.
