Features:
- Six-Channel Temperature Monitoring with RTD and Thermocouple Input Support
- Dedicated Recorder Outputs on Each of Its Six Channels for External Data Acquisition
- Compatible with RTD/TC Non-Isolated and TC Isolated I/O Module Configurations
The 3500/61 163179-02 operates as the Temperature Monitor Module in a 3500 rack, providing six independent channels of temperature monitoring for all connected sensors within the system. It continuously accepts both Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD) and Thermocouple (TC) temperature inputs, conditions these signals, and compares them against user-programmable alarm setpoints to support steady state operation of critical rotating machinery. Seamless integration with the 3500 Rack Configuration Software is standard with the 3500/61 163179-02, however using an optional Triple Modular Redundant (TMR) configuration will allow the system to employ two types of voting to ensure accurate operation and avoid single-point failures. The 3500/61 163179-02 has made improvements in several areas over the 3500/60 design in addition to incorporating dedicated recorder outputs for each of its six channels.
The 3500/61 163179-02 provides essential temperature monitoring functions common to the entire rack, and is a critical component of the machinery protection path, directly affecting the proper, normal operation of the overall monitor system. One or more 3500/61 163179-02 modules can be installed per rack depending on the number of temperature points to be monitored and the desired redundancy level. The 3500/61 163179-02 occupies a single full-height slot in the rack and is installed in the standard monitor slots.
For Triple Modular Redundant (TMR) applications, the 3500 System requires three 3500/61 163179-02 temperature monitor modules installed adjacent to each other in groups of three. In addition to standard single module operation, the TMR configuration also performs automatic voting. The 3500 TMR temperature monitoring configuration executes redundancy using the internal circuitry specified in the module design. Using this method, the redundant system continually monitors the health of all three modules. If the system detects that one module is no longer providing accurate output (outside configured tolerance levels), it will automatically rely on the remaining two modules through the voting mechanism and place an event in the System Event List.
The 3500/61 163179-02 Bently Nevada Temperature Module may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).
