More Information

Overview Manuals DeviceNet Roles Data Exchange Node Setup Applications

Features:

  • Combines selectable DeviceNet master and slave operating roles.
  • Transfers up to 512 input bytes and 512 output bytes.
  • Communicates at 125, 250, or 500 Kbps network rates.
The role selection lets one VersaMax station control field devices while also presenting data to another DeviceNet scanner when both functions are required.

Input and output mappings are sized independently within the 512-byte limits, allowing the host program to organize cyclic data by connection.

Every node must share the selected baud rate and use a unique MAC ID between 0 and 63; the factory address is 63.
The General Electric IC200BEM103 VersaMax DeviceNet Module can still be supplied and supported by Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

Network Participation

  • Master Mode: The module opens cyclic connections as a Group 2 Only Client.
  • Slave Mode: It responds as a Group 2 Only or UCMM-capable Server.
  • Combined Mode: Master and slave functions can run concurrently in one station.
  • Role Planning: Each function should receive a distinct data map suited to its connections.

Cyclic I/O Organization

  • Input Area: Up to 512 bytes can carry data received by the VersaMax host.
  • Output Area: A separate 512-byte limit applies to data transmitted from the host.
  • Connection Size: Individual assemblies should be allocated only the bytes their devices use.
  • Program Access: The configured map determines where each DeviceNet value appears in controller memory.

Address and Link Settings

  • MAC ID: A software-selected address from 0 through 63 identifies the module.
  • Default Address: A new or reset unit uses node 63 until another value is assigned.
  • Baud Match: All devices on the segment must use the same 125, 250, or 500 Kbps rate.
  • Network Power: The isolated communication transceiver is energized by the DeviceNet cable.

Control Scenarios

  • Sensor Clusters: DeviceNet blocks can return grouped machine signals to a VersaMax PLC.
  • Motor Starters: Cyclic commands and status words can share one fieldbus segment.
  • Peer Interface: Slave operation lets an upstream scanner consume selected VersaMax data.
  • Hybrid Station: Simultaneous roles support local device control and higher-level data exchange.
Description
General Electric IC200BEM103 gives a VersaMax PLC configurable DeviceNet control and adapter functions. It can act as the network master, operate as a slave, or perform both roles at the same time when the application needs local control plus peer data exchange.

Process data is organized into separate input and output areas, with capacity for as much as 512 bytes in each direction. The master side serves Group 2 Only slave devices, while the slave side can respond as a Group 2 Only or UCMM-capable server.

A five-position open connector carries the DeviceNet conductors, and the isolated transceiver receives power from the network. Commissioning General Electric IC200BEM103 requires a unique MAC ID, a common baud rate, and a scan or connection map aligned with every participating node.

FAQS

The following is a list of questions commonly asked by our customers. Please contact us if you have a question about our process that is not answered below.
When should General Electric IC200BEM103 use both DeviceNet roles at once?
Use simultaneous operation when General Electric IC200BEM103 must scan local field devices and also expose a separate data assembly to an upstream DeviceNet master.
Why does General Electric IC200BEM103 remain offline after a node change?
Check that General Electric IC200BEM103 has a unique MAC ID, shares the segment baud rate, and has been reassigned in every connection that referenced the former address.
How are large I/O maps divided on General Electric IC200BEM103?
General Electric IC200BEM103 provides separate limits of 512 input bytes and 512 output bytes, so each connection should reserve only its required assembly size.
Can General Electric IC200BEM103 communicate with UCMM-capable scanners?
In slave mode, General Electric IC200BEM103 can operate as a UCMM-capable Server as well as a Group 2 Only Server; master mode is a Group 2 Only Client.
What causes intermittent DeviceNet links around General Electric IC200BEM103?
For General Electric IC200BEM103, verify network power, connector polarity, shielding, trunk and drop lengths, termination, and a common data rate before changing the I/O map.
Which settings must be retained when replacing General Electric IC200BEM103?
Record the MAC ID, baud rate, operating roles, connection definitions, and byte mappings so General Electric IC200BEM103 returns to the same network behavior.
