More Information

Overview Manuals AC Supply Relay Loads Automation Applications

Features:

  • Runs the CPU from a selectable 120/240 VAC source.
  • Receives twelve 24 VDC input signals for machine-state monitoring.
  • Provides eight dry-contact commands for suitably rated external circuits.
General Electric IC200UDR120 fits installations where AC control power is readily available but sensors use conventional 24 VDC signaling.

Because the CPU supply, input circuits and relay loads can involve different voltage domains, careful segregation and protective grounding are central to a reliable panel layout.

High-speed functions, motion instructions, adaptable communications and four expansion positions give this compact AC-powered PLC room for more advanced control.

The General Electric IC200UDR120 VersaMax Micro 20 PLC may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

Mains-Powered Controller Design

  • Supply Selection: The CPU accepts a 120 or 240 VAC source within the supported operating range.
  • Circuit Separation: Mains conductors should remain segregated from input, serial and other low-voltage wiring.
  • Protection: Branch protection and protective earth must follow the panel design and applicable practice.
  • Field Sources: The AC input does not eliminate the need for suitable sensor and load power supplies.

Output Circuit Behavior

  • Contact Function: Eight isolated relays provide voltage-independent switching within their ratings.
  • Load Inrush: Coils, lamps and capacitive devices can demand more current at turn-on than in steady operation.
  • Suppression: External suppression can reduce transients and extend contact service in inductive circuits.
  • Troubleshooting: Measure both sides of a contact and verify the load supply before assigning a CPU fault.

Advanced Control Capability

  • Program Capacity: The memory arrangement supports more substantial sequencing and data handling than basic micro controllers.
  • Positioning: Home, jog, ramp and blended-motion commands can coordinate compatible mechanisms.
  • Fast Channels: Dedicated counter and waveform resources handle time-critical signals outside the normal scan.
  • Program Transfer: Portable FLASH can simplify restoration or replication of an approved application.

AC-Powered Machine Uses

  • Standalone Equipment: Direct AC supply suits self-contained panels with local branch protection.
  • Commercial Machinery: Relay outputs can interface diverse control loads while DC inputs receive sensor states.
  • Retrofit Panels: The voltage arrangement may align with older cabinets that already distribute AC control power.
  • Remote Assets: Selectable ports allow service access or connection to a compatible supervisory network.
Description
Powered directly from an AC supply, the General Electric IC200UDR120 VersaMax Micro 20 PLC combines twelve 24 VDC inputs and eight relay outputs in a twenty-point controller.

The 120/240 VAC supply format can reduce the need for a separate DC power unit for the CPU, while field sensors and relay load circuits still require their specified external sources and references.

Processing resources include 24K words of logic memory, 32K words of data memory and an approximate 1.1 ms/K scan rate. A real-time clock, battery and supercapacitor support timed control and retained values.

Four counter channels can handle supported inputs up to 100 kHz, and four pulse/PWM channels can operate up to 65 kHz. Motion commands cover homing, jogging, ramps and blended moves when the application is wired and configured accordingly.

RS232 is provided for direct access, with RS232, RS485, USB or Ethernet available as a second-port choice. The controller also accepts up to four VersaMax Micro expansion modules.

Technical notes
General Electric IC200UDR120 brings AC line power into the controller; keep mains wiring segregated from 24 VDC input and communication circuits.
