Overview Manuals Output Architecture Voltage Modes Load Behavior Status & Limits

Features:

  • Provides dense negative-logic switching for VersaMax discrete-control stations.
  • Supports both 5 VDC TTL and 12/24 VDC field circuits.
  • Reports commanded point states, field power and module power with LEDs.
General Electric IC200MDL744 receives thirty-two output bits from a VersaMax CPU or NIU and switches current on the negative side of the DC supply. Two groups of sixteen provide dense sinking control in one I/O position.

The module accepts 4.75 to 5.25 VDC for TTL circuits or 10.2 to 30 VDC for 12/24 VDC operation. Each bank has separate field-power terminals, allowing the groups to use independently planned supplies.

Individual point LEDs show commanded states, while FLD PWR indicates field supply and OK confirms backplane power. This separation helps distinguish a control command from a missing field source during checks.

The General Electric IC200MDL744 VersaMax Output Module may be available for purchase and technical support from Apter Power.

Channel Arrangement

  • Bank Layout: Thirty-two outputs are divided into two groups of sixteen.
  • Signal Direction: Sinking channels switch loads toward the negative return side.
  • Controller Data: The module receives thirty-two discrete output bits from the CPU or NIU.
  • Field Feed: Dedicated DC+ and DC- terminals serve each bank.

Electrical Input Windows

  • TTL Window: Field operation is specified from 4.75 to 5.25 VDC.
  • DC Range: The 12/24 VDC mode accepts 10.2 to 30 VDC.
  • Voltage Drop: Maximum drop is 0.4 V in TTL mode and 0.3 V in 12/24 VDC mode.
  • Leakage Limit: Off-state leakage is 0.5 mA at 30 VDC maximum.

Switching Characteristics

  • Continuous Load: A resistive point carries up to 0.5 A at 30 VDC.
  • Starting Surge: Inrush may reach 2.0 A for 100 ms.
  • Command Timing: ON response is 0.2 ms maximum and OFF response is 1.0 ms maximum.
  • Coil Loads: Inductive devices require suitable external suppression.

Indicators and Operating Boundaries

  • Point Indication: A green LED follows the commanded state of each output.
  • Power Indication: FLD PWR and OK distinguish field supply from backplane power.
  • Circuit Protection: The module contains no internal output fuses.
  • Thermal Planning: Temperature, field voltage and orientation determine the permitted active-point count.
  • Group Separation: The two banks are isolated from each other at 250 VAC continuously.
Description
General Electric IC200MDL744 is suited to compact VersaMax panels that must command many DC devices from one I/O position. Its sinking architecture works with field circuits arranged around a positive supply and a switched return path.

The two output banks can be treated as separate field sections, helping panel designers organize circuit protection and power distribution. Control commands arrive through the backplane, while the connected loads draw their operating energy from the external DC source.

Electronic switching gives the module the response needed for routine solenoids, indicators and other discrete loads without the contact wear associated with mechanical relays. The chosen devices must still remain within the manual's load and inrush limits.

General Electric IC200MDL744 does not include output fuses, so branch protection belongs in the field circuit. Inductive loads should use suitable suppression, and applications with many continuously energized points must follow the stated temperature and mounting-orientation derating guidance.

FAQS

The following is a list of questions commonly asked by our customers. Please contact us if you have a question about our process that is not answered below.
Why can General Electric IC200MDL744 not drive a sourcing-only field circuit directly?
General Electric IC200MDL744 uses negative-logic, sinking outputs, so the load and supply must be wired for current to return through the module. A sourcing-only circuit needs a compatible interface or a different output type.
How should the two output banks of General Electric IC200MDL744 be powered?
General Electric IC200MDL744 provides separate DC+ and DC- terminals for each sixteen-point bank. Feed and protect each bank according to the voltage mode and loads assigned to that group.
What should be checked when General Electric IC200MDL744 LEDs turn on but a load stays off?
With General Electric IC200MDL744, first confirm that valid field power is present, the load return path is complete, and the external supply matches TTL or 12/24 VDC mode. The point LEDs are logic-driven and do not prove load current is flowing.
Can General Electric IC200MDL744 switch inductive devices without added components?
General Electric IC200MDL744 can command inductive DC loads within its ratings, but external suppression is recommended. The suppression device should be selected for the coil and installed in the field circuit.
How does panel orientation affect General Electric IC200MDL744 loading?
The number of simultaneously active points on General Electric IC200MDL744 depends on ambient temperature, field voltage, and module orientation. Use the thermal-derating limits when many outputs will remain on together.
Why should external branch protection be planned for General Electric IC200MDL744?
General Electric IC200MDL744 has no internal output fuses. External branch protection limits fault energy and lets each field-power group be serviced without relying on the module for circuit protection.
