Features:
- Metal-case SmartStack radio for the 902–928 MHz ISM band
- External RS-232 data connection for compatible OCS/RCS controllers
- Peer, point-to-point, point-to-multipoint and multidrop network support
The
HORNER HE800WCM900 order number identifies the metal-case SmartStack WCM900 supplied with an indoor articulating RPSMA antenna.
Incoming serial characters are buffered, packetized and transferred across a frequency-hopping radio channel to another compatible WCM900 endpoint.
System matching requires the external controller cable, a supported OCS/RCS host and identical network parameters at communicating radios. OCS250 installations require WCM900 Revision B or later.
The HORNER HE800WCM900 Wireless Communications Module may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

Serial Buffer Management
- Input pacing: Smaller messages or an interface rate below the fixed RF data rate reduce the chance of filling the DI buffer.
- Hardware pause: The DO2 line can tell the host to stop sending as the DI buffer approaches its configured threshold.
- Output restraint: Enabling DI2 flow control holds data in the DO buffer while the host is not ready to receive it.
- ASCII handling: The FL command enables XON/XOFF control only for serial payloads that use ASCII data.
Packet Addressing and Persistence
- VID layer: The module rejects traffic whose vendor identification value does not match the configured network.
- Hop sequence: Communicating radios use the same hopping-channel number so their frequency sequence remains synchronized.
- Destination filter: The destination address controls which synchronized receiver sends packet data to its serial port.
- Integrity check: A 16-bit CRC is calculated for every RF packet, and a packet with an invalid result is discarded.
- Saved settings: The WR command stores revised parameters in non-volatile memory for use after the next power cycle.
Antenna and RF Installation
- Indoor antenna: The articulating antenna supplied with the WCM900 is not approved by the manufacturer for outdoor mounting.
- Remote mounting: HORNER antenna kits extend the RPSMA connection to a bulkhead-mounted indoor/outdoor antenna.
- Cable loss: The manufacturer recommends keeping the RF extension cable as short as the installation permits.
- Certified assembly: Antenna choice, RF exposure separation and final-equipment labeling remain part of the integrator's compliance work.
Wireless Serial Deployment
- Controller link: Two compatible WCM900 endpoints carry asynchronous serial messages between separate OCS/RCS stations.
- Shared radio path: Point-to-multipoint and multidrop arrangements distribute addressed traffic among several serial nodes.
- PC connection: A FOX104 base supplies mounting and power while a computer communicates through the WCM900 RS-232 port.
