Features:

  • Extends multi-function controller termination for a redundant controller arrangement.
  • Provides two RS-232-C ports and one control-station serial link.
  • Draws a documented maximum of 160 mA from the +24 V DC supply.
The NIMF02 order extends the NIMF01 termination scheme for a second multi-function controller.

It concentrates redundant-controller serial and control-station connections in one standard termination slot.

Validate cable identities, controller positions and the +24 V current budget before adding or replacing the module.

Legacy availability is confirmed together with NIMF01 pairing and cable requirements.

  • Terminate serial channels in a redundant multi-function controller cabinet.
  • Connect documented RS-232-C peripherals to the controller pair.
  • Maintain the control-station serial link across the approved redundant arrangement.
  • The module supplements NIMF01 when redundant multi-function controllers are installed.
  • Both controller positions must use the cable arrangement defined by ABB Bailey.
  • Termination hardware preserves physical paths but does not execute switchover logic.
  • Two RS-232-C ports terminate external serial communication channels.
  • A separate serial link serves the associated control stations.
  • Port type and pinout must match each connected device before energization.
  • The module draws a documented maximum of 160 mA from +24 V DC.
  • A status LED adds the specified 10 mA load.
  • The approved service range is 0 to 70 °C and 5 to 90% relative humidity, noncondensing.
Description
NIMF02 is added to the NIMF01 termination arrangement when redundant multi-function controllers are used. Its purpose is to bring the second controller and the shared external communication paths into the documented redundant installation.

The module terminates two RS-232-C channels and the serial link used by control stations. These circuits provide the physical communication path; message handling and controller decisions remain functions of the connected multi-function controller.

In a redundant application, the termination hardware preserves the specified cabling between both controller positions and the external serial devices. Correct cable identity and connector placement are essential because the termination module does not correct a crossed or incompatible serial connection.

Technical notes
NIMF02 is for the redundant NIMF01 arrangement; crossed serial cables or an incorrect +24 V supply can interrupt both controller and station communication paths.

FAQS

The following is a list of questions commonly asked by our customers. Please contact us if you have a question about our process that is not answered below.
Why is ABB NIMF02 added to an NIMF01 installation?
It provides the extra termination required when the multi-function controller application is configured with redundant controllers.
Which external links terminate on ABB NIMF02?
The module provides two RS-232-C channels and one serial link for control stations.
Does ABB NIMF02 decide which redundant controller is active?
No. It provides the physical termination; redundancy decisions are handled by the connected controller system and application.
What cabinet-power allowance belongs to ABB NIMF02?
The official instruction specifies up to 160 mA from the +24 V supply, with an additional documented load for the status LED.
What prevents substituting another serial termination for ABB NIMF02?
Controller pairing, connector pinout, station link, supply current, mounting slot and cable assignment must all correspond.
Which redundancy records should be included when requesting ABB NIMF02?
Send both controller labels, NIMF01 details, cable numbers, serial-device list, cabinet voltage, quantity and destination.
