Overview Manuals Applications Communication Diagnostics Configuration

Features:

  • Includes two serial-interface cards to provide a redundant two-channel communication arrangement.
  • Uses the matched two-port terminal block for field cabling and redundant channel termination.
  • Supports automatic transfer from the active interface to the standby card during a qualifying fault.
The current ordering configuration is CE4036P2, the DeltaV Redundant M-Series Two-Port Serial Interface Assembly documented by Emerson for DeltaV M-Series Serial Interface.

CE4036P2 is used in Redundant Modbus links to analyzers, drives and package-control equipment. Its system role and configuration limits must remain aligned with the official specification.

Before commissioning CE4036P2, verify the installed assembly, project wiring, power, software and environmental conditions that apply to this exact part number.

Availability is subject to Apter Power inventory and sourcing confirmation.

  • Redundant Modbus links to analyzers, drives and package-control equipment.
  • Serial integrations where a standby interface protects communication availability.
  • Maintenance of an installed CE4036P2 pair with existing redundant field wiring.
  • Configure each port for the required RS-232 or RS-422/485 mode.
  • Set baud rate, parity, data bits and stop bits to match the connected device.
  • Allocate serial datasets according to the control and monitoring design.
  • Monitor the integrity of both active and standby interface cards.
  • Separate field-cable faults from card or controller-communication failures.
  • Record and investigate every automatic or manual switchover.
  • Assign the redundant pair at the odd-numbered carrier address used by DeltaV.
  • Confirm the protocol driver and dataset map before download.
  • Test outputs, timeouts and resend behavior during commissioning.
Description
CE4036P2 is an Emerson DeltaV redundant serial-interface assembly with two interface cards and a redundant terminal block. Each card provides two configurable serial ports for integration with supported serial devices.

The M-Series interface supports RS-232 and RS-422/485 modes, Modbus RTU or ASCII operation, and up to sixteen datasets per port. DeltaV monitors the active and standby cards and can switch to the backup after a detected fault.

Confirm the legacy CE4036P2 order identity, installed terminal block, port wiring, slave-device redundancy capability, protocol driver and DeltaV revision before replacement.

FAQS

The following is a list of questions commonly asked by our customers. Please contact us if you have a question about our process that is not answered below.
What hardware is included in CE4036P2?
The official order includes two serial-interface cards and one redundant terminal block.
How many serial ports are available on each card?
Each interface card provides two independently configurable ports.
Which electrical interfaces can the ports use?
The family supports RS-232 and RS-422/485 half- or full-duplex operation.
What must the connected slave provide for redundancy?
The field device must support the required redundant serial-port arrangement.
How does DeltaV respond to an active-card fault?
The system can transfer communication to the standby card and report the switchover to the operator.
Is a current serial-interface code automatically interchangeable?
No. Verify the legacy terminal block, software revision, driver, addressing and wiring before selecting a successor.
