More Information

Overview Manuals Logic Inputs Relay Outputs Rack Fit Applications

Features:

  • Sixteen relay channels provide hardwired protection-system outputs.
  • Thirty logic expressions can evaluate as many as sixty input states.
  • The -10 version uses a documented 3U, 10TE format.
The module converts configured rack logic into isolated field-contact actions.

Voting expressions and relay assignments belong to the commissioned protection strategy.

Exact replacement review should cover rack width, contact wiring and saved logic.

  • Up to sixty logical states can be assigned to the module.
  • Thirty expressions define voting and condition relationships.
  • Each expression can combine the states required by the machine-protection strategy.
  • Input assignments should be transferred from the commissioned logic record.
  • Sixteen relays switch external alarm, interlock or shutdown circuits.
  • Energized and de-energized behavior follows the installed application.
  • Field voltage and contact loading must remain within the documented wiring design.
  • The relay schedule should identify the receiving circuit for every channel.
  • A6740-10 occupies the documented 10TE rack width.
  • A wider related version should not be treated as the same mechanical item.
  • Slot, connector and neighboring-module clearance should be compared before replacement.
  • The module label and rack drawing provide the strongest exact-fit evidence.
  • Hardwired machinery alarm and trip output handling.
  • Configured voting for rotating-equipment protection.
  • External annunciation and shutdown-circuit interfacing.
  • AMS 6500 relay-module maintenance with preserved logic and wiring assignments.
Description
Where a protection rack must hand a trip decision to plant wiring, A6740-10 provides sixteen configurable SPDT contacts in the 10TE format used with AMS 6500 systems.

Clear, alert and danger states can feed the logic expressions in A6740-10; assigned relays then operate with the configured Boolean rule and delay, rather than measuring vibration themselves.

Apter Power can quote A6740-10 against the rack slot and review the existing cause-and-effect matrix, contact assignments and receiving-circuit load for a correctly scoped spare.

Technical notes
A6740-10 is the 10TE relay-module version, so rack space, connector arrangement and the commissioned logic matrix all matter. Apter Power can review the relay schedule and cause-and-effect record before quotation, helping protect external trip circuits from a mechanically or logically mismatched spare.

FAQS

The following is a list of questions commonly asked by our customers. Please contact us if you have a question about our process that is not answered below.
My rack takes a 10TE A6740-10. Can I use the wider A6740 instead?
The wider A6740 is not a direct swap: Emerson assigns A6740-10 to 10TE AMS 6500 racks and A6740 to 12TE IMR6000 racks.
If I replace A6740-10, will its former trip logic return automatically?
Relay behavior depends on the approved input states, expressions and assignments; installing hardware alone does not restore the former trip logic.
What changes if my A6740-10 circuit uses a normally closed contact?
The receiving circuit sees the opposite contact state; the NO/NC wiring and normally energized setting must match the approved fail-state.
Can I add another monitor alarm to A6740-10 without editing the existing expression?
Only if the commissioned expression already includes that alarm state; an unassigned condition will not change the relay decision.
An input is active but the plant alarm stays off. What should I compare on A6740-10?
An active input may not reach the plant alarm if the Boolean result, output assignment, relay contact or field circuit differs from the commissioned schedule. Comparing those stages locates the break.
What should I send with an A6740-10 request for a shutdown-circuit spare?
The full module label, rack slot, logic file, relay schedule and receiving-circuit load help Apter Power quote the correct shutdown-interface spare.
