Features:
- The pack places analog measurement and command functions close to the terminal board while IONet carries values to and from the controller.
- Input span, engineering-unit scaling, filter choice, output behavior, and terminal-board jumpers must describe the same physical loop.
- Front indicators and controller diagnostics help separate pack status, network health, and field-channel conditions.
For commissioning, technicians can inject known signals at the terminal board and compare the resulting controller value with the configured range and polarity.
Output work should begin with the intended fail behavior and load requirement, followed by a controlled current test before the actuator or external circuit is returned to service.
Where an older electronics pack is being replaced, software support and the connected terminal hardware should be reviewed as part of the change record.

Input-range setup
- Voltage selection: Choose the supported unipolar or bipolar span that matches the transmitter or conditioned sensor output.
- Current-loop selection: Confirm the terminal-board burden path and use the corresponding current input setting in ToolboxST.
- Low-current channels: The final two inputs can be assigned to the channel-specific milliampere ranges when the application requires them.
- Scaling review: Enter low and high engineering values assigned to the instrument, then verify them with at least two test points.
- Filter choice: Select only enough software filtering to stabilize the signal without masking a required process response.
Managing analog output states
- Standard loops: Match each receiving device and loop supply to the configured current range before commanding an output.
- High-current channel: Reserve the extended-current function for output 1 and align its hardware jumper with the software setting.
- Load check: Measure total circuit resistance so the requested current can be achieved without saturating the driver.
- Offline response: Choose whether a communication loss powers down, holds the last command, or applies a predefined value according to the control strategy.
- Proof test: Verify the low, midpoint, and high command at the field termination after maintenance.
Installing the PAICH2A pack
- Terminal-board confirmation: Read the board catalog and revision before seating the pack; unsupported hardware can generate a compatibility alarm.
- Mechanical support: Adjust the mounting bracket so the threaded studs secure the pack without side load on the DC connector.
- Network routing: Connect the required IONet cables to their assigned controller paths and preserve the established port convention.
- Power connection: Apply the approved pack supply through the side connector after terminal and network checks are complete.
- Configuration download: Load the reviewed device configuration and confirm electronic identification before enabling field commands.
Diagnostic checks
- Compatibility fault: Compare the installed terminal-board revision with the supported hardware list before replacing the I/O pack.
- Unstable reading: Inspect shielding, grounding, common-mode voltage, range selection, and transmitter supply at the affected channel.
- Incorrect scaling: Check the applied test current or voltage against the configured engineering endpoints and polarity.
- Output shortfall: Review circuit resistance, loop power, range selection, and the output-1 jumper before changing calibration values.
- Network alarm: Test each Ethernet path independently and confirm that the controller is receiving the correct device identity.
