Features:
- Operates as a PROFIBUS-DP network master.
- Supports rates from 9.6 kbit/s to 12 Mbit/s.
- Provides network scanning and device diagnostics.
The Horner HE800PBM650 owns the cyclic exchange with PROFIBUS-DP slaves, so its network file determines which remote bytes the controller can use.
HsyCon builds the bus configuration from slave GSD definitions, while Cscape or Cbreeze maps the resulting totals into the host program; both sides must describe the same data size.
Physical segment rules remain independent of the logical node limit: networks beyond 32 devices require segmentation and repeaters, with termination placed at the actual cable ends.
The Horner HE800PBM650 PROFIBUS-DP Master Module may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

- RS-485 Trunk: The two-wire bus uses a 9-pin PROFIBUS connector, so shield continuity, polarity and connector termination all affect communication quality.
- Segment Limit: Up to 32 nodes belong on one electrical segment; larger installations need repeaters even though the logical network can address more devices.
- Rate and Distance: Higher baud rates reduce allowable cable length, making the selected speed part of the physical layout rather than only a software setting.
- GSD Definitions: Each slave's GSD file supplies the configurator with valid module and data options, preventing unsupported byte layouts from being invented.
- HsyCon Project: The fieldbus configuration assigns nodes and compiles the cyclic exchange that the master downloads and executes.
- Controller Mapping: Cscape or Cbreeze input and output counts must equal the HsyCon totals or the host will interpret the bus image incorrectly.
- Four Status Views: Ready, run, error and status indicators separate module startup, active control and network faults at the panel.
- Device Diagnostics: Software diagnostics identify which configured slave is reporting trouble instead of reducing every failure to a generic bus alarm.
- Network Scan: Scanning helps compare the devices physically present with the nodes expected by the saved PROFIBUS project.
- Distributed I/O: The master can coordinate remote digital and analog slave stations while the controller works from one mapped process image.
- Drive Networks: PROFIBUS-DP drives can exchange cyclic command and status words when their GSD modules and byte order are configured correctly.
- Legacy Expansion: Existing SmartStack systems can retain established PROFIBUS field wiring when node files, register totals and host compatibility are preserved.
