Features:
- Interfaces Reliably With 40 Independent Field Input Devices Using TMR Architecture.
- Provides Real-Time Sequence Of Events Logging With Millisecond Resolution.
- Enables Continuous Online Operation With Hot-Swappable Installation Capability.
The ICS Triplex T8403 Digital Input Module is designed to handle high-integrity digital inputs in mission-critical control systems. Each input channel measures field voltages through a sigma-delta circuit and evaluates them against configurable thresholds, ensuring precise detection of ON and OFF states. The module supports line-monitoring functionality, allowing operators to identify open or short-circuited field wiring independently for each channel.
Built for demanding industrial environments, the T8403 operates across a temperature range of 0°C to 60°C (32°F to 140°F) and can be stored between -25°C and 70°C (-13°F to 158°F), while tolerating relative humidity from 5% to 95% non-condensing. Its 50 V continuous channel-to-ground isolation and IP20 protection provide robust electrical and mechanical durability, making it suitable for Trusted® T8100 frame installations.
Operators benefit from integrated diagnostics, front-panel LEDs, and comprehensive self-tests, which provide immediate feedback on module and channel health. The onboard Sequence of Events (SOE) recording captures precise input state changes at 1 ms resolution, supporting real-time monitoring, troubleshooting, and logging. Hot-swappable design allows module replacement without system shutdown, maintaining uninterrupted operation of the TMR control architecture.
The T8403 ICS Triplex Digital Input Module may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

- Version Compatibility: The firmware must match the operating system (OS) version of the Trusted controller, typically distributed via Trusted Toolset.
- Triple Voting Logic: The firmware incorporates a TMR (Triple Module Redundancy) voting algorithm, performing real-time comparisons of data from three independent processing paths within the module.
- Online Upgrade: Supports firmware updates during system operation, but requires a Fault Tolerant Pair configuration to ensure uninterrupted processing.
- Diagnostic Reports: The firmware monitors hardware health in real time and reports detailed channel-level faults (such as open circuits, short circuits, and abnormal transitions) to the controller.
- Software Environment: Channel definitions, threshold settings, and logical associations are performed using Trusted Toolset software.
- SOE Enablement: A 1ms Sequence Event Recording (SOE) function can be independently enabled for each channel in the configuration for post-fault analysis.
- Line Monitoring: The load characteristics of the input circuit can be configured to detect open or short circuits in the wiring between field devices and the module.
- Filtering and Debouncing: Supports setting digital filtering time in the software to prevent frequent fluctuations or false alarms in input signals caused by on-site electrical noise.
- Emergency Shutdown System (ESD): Serves as a core safety input for oil and gas facilities, receiving critical shut-off signals from manual buttons, pressure switches, etc.
- Flame and Gas Monitoring System (F&G): Connects to flame detectors, smoke alarms, and gas detectors, providing high-reliability monitoring compliant with SIL 3 standards.
- Burner Management System (BMS): Monitors the flame status of boilers or furnaces, valve limit switches, and other critical interlocking inputs.
- Critical Process Control: Used in fault-tolerant protection components in chemical reactors or nuclear facilities where the reliability of input signals is extremely important.
