More Information

Overview Manuals H1 Network Redundancy Diagnostics Application
  • Provides four isolated FOUNDATION Fieldbus H1 links
  • Supports up to sixteen field devices on each link
  • Verify processor, TA and redundancy hardware before replacement

Foxboro FBM228 provides four independent FOUNDATION Fieldbus H1 links, each with Link Active Scheduler capability, for integrating intelligent transmitters and actuators into a Foxboro DCS.

The module exchanges cyclic process data and acyclic device information with compatible FCP280, FCP270 or supported legacy communication hardware through the redundant module Fieldbus.

It is used where multiple H1 segments require channel isolation, individual diagnostics and optional module redundancy without combining the field wiring of separate segments.

Availability, condition, price, and shipping time for FBM228 are confirmed during quotation.

  • Keep each H1 link as an independent powered segment
  • Use two correctly placed terminators on every segment
  • Confirm device addresses and scheduled communication before startup
  • Match both module order codes and approved baseplate hardware
  • Check master and tracker status before disturbing a live pair
  • Restore the exact database and H1 schedule after replacement
  • Review per-link communication and power indications
  • Investigate segment errors before changing control configuration
  • Confirm automatic recovery after a controlled power cycle
  • FOUNDATION Fieldbus transmitter integration in process plants
  • Redundant H1 I/O for critical refinery and chemical loops
  • Segmented intelligent valve and analyzer networks

FAQS

The following is a list of questions commonly asked by our customers. Please contact us if you have a question about our process that is not answered below.
Which control processors can be used with Foxboro FBM228?
Use Foxboro FBM228 only with a processor and software release documented for the installed I/A Series or Foxboro DCS architecture, then confirm the module Fieldbus path in the saved configuration.
Does Foxboro FBM228 include its termination assembly and redundancy adapter?
No. The module body, TA, TA cable and any redundancy adapter are separate items unless the quotation explicitly lists them.
Can Foxboro FBM228 place all four H1 links on one physical segment?
No. The four links are separate galvanically isolated H1 channels; preserve each segment's power conditioner, terminators, shield and device allocation.
Why can one link on Foxboro FBM228 be offline while the other three operate?
Inspect that channel's H1 power, two terminators, polarity, shield, spur wiring, segment current, duplicate addresses and device communication status.
Why might Foxboro FBM228 fail to become Link Active Scheduler after replacement?
Check the restored H1 schedule, link-master settings, macrocycle, device descriptions and whether another active scheduler already owns the segment.
Can Foxboro FBM228 be replaced online in a redundant pair?
A properly configured redundant pair supports replacement without interrupting the process, but maintenance bypasses, master/tracker state and approved site procedure must be verified first.
What commissioning checks should follow installation of Foxboro FBM228?
Confirm all four links, compare scheduled devices with the live segment, review communication errors and diagnostics, then prove recovery from the documented redundant-module switchover.
