More Information

Overview Manuals Channel Configuration Redundancy Commissioning Application
  • Use FBM248 only for its documented current/voltage analog, digital and pulse I/O configurable module (redundant) function
  • Confirm the exact module identity, companion hardware and software compatibility before replacement
  • Preserve wiring, network or fieldbus configuration, diagnostics and redundancy state before removal

FBM248 is a Foxboro current/voltage analog, digital and pulse I/O configurable module (redundant) for the Foxboro DCS platform.

Foxboro FBM248 is an eight-channel redundant configurable I/O module for analog, HART, digital and pulse field signals. The official PSS identifies FBM248 and current module part number RH100KG as the same electronic module identity.

Before installation or replacement, verify the complete nameplate, compatible hardware, network or field wiring, saved configuration, software release and commissioning plan.

Availability, condition, price, and shipping time for FBM248 are confirmed during quotation.

  • Assign every channel only to a documented analog, HART, digital or pulse mode
  • Match the termination hardware and field power to each configured mode
  • Restore scaling, filtering, alarms and safe-state behavior from the approved project
  • Install the documented master/tracker pair with the correct redundant adapter
  • Preserve partner roles, baseplate positions and both Module Fieldbus paths
  • Prove channel continuity and diagnostic recovery during controlled transfer
  • Inject traceable current or voltage on every analog input
  • Command analog and discrete outputs into controlled loads
  • Verify pulse, frequency, HART and digital channels against their configured field devices
  • Mixed HART and non-HART 4-20 mA process loops
  • Configurable voltage, current and digital input acquisition
  • Redundant pulse/frequency measurement and low-current 24 VDC output service
Description

FBM248 provides eight isolated channels that can be assigned to documented current, voltage, digital, pulse or HART functions.

Selection depends on the saved mode of every channel and on the matching RH100JD redundant adapter, termination assembly, Type 1 cable, field power and grounding arrangement.

Before replacement, record channel ranges, scaling, thresholds, HART assignments, fallback actions, module roles and active diagnostics, then recommission each used signal path and the redundant transfer.

Technical notes
FBM248/RH100KG is one configurable electronic module identity. Keep its redundant adapter, termination assemblies and cables separate, and verify each channel mode before replacement.

FAQS

The following is a list of questions commonly asked by our customers. Please contact us if you have a question about our process that is not answered below.
Can FBM248 mix analog, HART, digital and pulse functions in one module?
Yes. Each of the eight isolated channels can be configured independently when its termination hardware and control configuration support the selected mode.
Can FBM248 support both HART input and output devices?
Yes. FBM248 supports compatible point-to-point 4-20 mA HART inputs and outputs when the field device, loop burden, power and software release are verified.
Can FBM248 replace a fixed-function FBM without engineering changes?
No. Channel modes, termination hardware, wiring, scaling, alarms and control logic must be reviewed and recommissioned.
What should be checked before replacing FBM248?
Record both module labels, master/tracker state, adapter and termination hardware, cable numbers, channel modes, scaling, field power and active diagnostics.
Why can one FBM248 channel remain BAD while other channels operate?
Check that channel's configured mode, termination path, field power, polarity, signal range, HART identity, wiring and isolation diagnostics.
How should FBM248 redundancy be tested?
Verify partner synchronization, controlled transfer, uninterrupted values or outputs, expected alarms and recovery on both Module Fieldbus paths.
How should FBM248 be tested after installation?
Test every used channel with traceable signals or controlled loads, verify scaling and diagnostics, then prove the intended control sequence and redundant transfer.
