Features:
- Interface Between Modbus TCP/IP Networks and ControlLogix Processors
- Combines Client and Server Communication Capabilities with Extreme Environment Operation
- Operates in Conjunction with the Logix-XT™ Control Platform and Standard ControlLogix Systems
The MVI56E-MNETXT operates as the Modbus TCP/IP Client/Server Communication Module in a ControlLogix rack, providing seamless data exchange between Rockwell Automation ControlLogix processors and Modbus compatible devices. It continuously facilitates communication through a 5000-word register space that exchanges data between the processor and the Modbus TCP/IP network, supporting both Client (Master) and Server (Slave) capabilities for versatile industrial connectivity. Seamless integration is standard with the MVI56E-MNETXT, however its specialized XT design allows reliable operation in extreme environments and at higher operating temperatures where standard modules would fail. The MVI56E-MNETXT features a conformal coating to protect it from harsh or caustic conditions, making improvements in environmental resilience over previous and standard MVI56E-MNET designs in addition to incorporating universal Modbus TCP/IP communication capability within the ControlLogix platform.
The MVI56E-MNETXT provides essential communication functions common to the entire network architecture, and is a critical component of the data exchange path, directly affecting the proper, normal operation of the overall control system. One MVI56E-MNETXT module is required per ControlLogix rack for Modbus TCP/IP connectivity. The MVI56E-MNETXT occupies only a single slot in the 1756 ControlLogix backplane and supports 10/100 Mbps auto crossover detection Ethernet configuration for flexible network deployment.
For Extreme Environment applications, the MVI56E-MNETXT is specifically designed for the Logix-XT™ control platform. In addition to standard communication operation, the XT configuration also performs reliably under elevated temperature ranges and harsh industrial conditions. The MVI56E-MNETXT extreme environment design executes protection using the conformal coating specified in the module specifications. Using this method, the MVI56E-MNETXT continually safeguards internal circuitry from moisture, dust, and corrosive contaminants. If the system operates in conditions where standard modules would experience degradation or failure (outside normal temperature or environmental tolerance levels), the MVI56E-MNETXT maintains stable performance and ensures continuous data exchange between the ControlLogix processor and Modbus TCP/IP network devices.
The MVI56E-MNETXT ProSoft Interface Module may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).
