Features:
- The IM153-2 FO connects an ET 200M station to PROFIBUS DP through duplex fiber.
- One interface module supplies the station backplane and manages up to eight fitted I/O modules.
- Enhanced diagnostics organize station, module and channel conditions for the DP master.
The interface module occupies the station head position between the optical fieldbus and the S7-300-format I/O backplane.
Active bus hardware enables documented redundancy and module replacement behavior without treating two interface modules as independent stations.
GSD identity, DP address and diagnostic-frame configuration must agree at the master before cyclic I/O exchange can begin.
The Siemens 6ES7153-2BB00-0XB0 IM153-2 FO High Feature Interface Module may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

Optical PROFIBUS station connection
- FOC interface: The duplex optical cable links the ET 200M station to the neighboring PROFIBUS DP node without an RS485 copper interface at the module.
- Plug adapter: Two simplex connectors seat in the IM153-2 FO adapter and preserve the transmit/receive orientation.
- Cable routing: The transmit and receive fibers remain assigned to their marked openings through the station cable channel.
- Bus identity: The DP master identifies the optical variant by its IM153-2 FO manufacturer ID and GSD entry.
Backplane position and station size
- Station head: The interface module sits immediately before the signal, function and communication modules on the ET 200M rail.
- Module count: This 2BB00 variant manages a maximum of eight I/O modules on the station backplane.
- Backplane supply: The 24 V input powers the interface electronics and feeds the operating-voltage path for the I/O bus.
- Configuration match: The software station layout must match the physical module sequence before data exchange starts.
Two interface modules on one station
- Active bus module: The 6ES7195-7HD10-0XA0 IM/IM bus module accepts the documented redundant pairing for the 2BB00 version.
- Shared I/O: Both interface modules serve the same downstream ET 200M assembly rather than creating two separate I/O stations.
- Module replacement: Active bus hardware keeps the station wiring and backplane arrangement in place during a supported interface-module change.
- RUN modification: The 2BB00 version supports system modification in RUN within the documented redundant and nonredundant arrangements.
How station faults reach the master
- Station status: The first diagnostic bytes report whether the slave is addressable, configured and ready for data exchange.
- Module status: Enhanced diagnostics identify the state of each configured I/O position on the ET 200M backplane.
- Channel detail: Channel-related messages follow the module status so individual I/O faults can be assigned to their source.
- FO identity: Manufacturer ID 8071H distinguishes the IM153-2 FO response from the RS485 interface variants.
