Features:
- The input and battery connections have reverse-polarity protection.
- Buffer duration can be selected locally.
- The module indicates normal supply, buffering, battery readiness and charge state.
The external circuits attached to 6EP1931-2FC21, including signaling and status contacts, must meet the SELV requirements. The signal terminals are part of that installation requirement rather than unrestricted external switching connections.
The compatibility switch on 6EP1931-2FC21 selects the behavior associated with the new or former DC UPS family. It is a dedicated setting on this execution, not a USB communication command.
The battery leads connected to 6EP1931-2FC21 are routed together with the smallest practicable loop. Keeping these conductors paired limits the interference coupled into the load circuit.
The Siemens 6EP1931-2FC21 SITOP DC UPS 40 A Module may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

Read each indication as a separate operating condition
- Normal operation: The green DC indication and its relay contact identify operation above the cut-in threshold.
- Buffer operation: The yellow battery indication and changeover contact identify battery-fed load operation.
- Charge indication: The charge indicator has a separate normally-open relay contact.
- Alarm indication: Battery readiness or undervoltage conditions use the alarm indication instead of the normal-operation contact.
Follow the response appropriate to the active supply path
- Current limiting: The module limits output current during overload or short-circuit conditions.
- Input-fed retry: With normal input supply present, a protective shutdown is followed by repeated attempts to restart.
- Battery-fed shutdown: A shutdown during buffering remains until the input supply returns.
- Deep discharge: Low battery voltage disconnects the load to prevent further discharge; the input must recover before operation resumes.
Keep cooling and cable routing compatible with the enclosure
- Orientation: Mount the module vertically with the input and output terminals and cooling openings at the bottom.
- Ventilation: Leave clearance above and below the module for cooling airflow.
- Adjacent equipment: Keep the unit away from commutating chokes rather than mounting directly beside them.
- Control routing: Route the ON/OFF control circuit separately from power leads, including converter-to-motor connections.
Distinguish connection monitoring from the periodic check
- Test interval: Normal input-fed operation includes a periodic battery test.
- Interrupted interval: Buffer operation or battery disconnection within the interval prevents that scheduled test.
- Fault indication: A defective battery is indicated by a flashing alarm.
- Remaining operation: A faulty battery may still provide some buffering, but the normal buffer duration is no longer assured.
