Features:
- One RS485 channel connects the electrical PROFIBUS segment.
- Two optical channels support POF and PCF fiber through four BFOC sockets.
- A signaling contact and measuring output support link supervision.
Siemens 6GK1503-3CA00 transfers PROFIBUS telegrams between copper and fiber segments.
The two optical channels keep transmit and receive paths organized through separate BFOC connections.
Selectable data rates let the module follow the transmission setting used by the connected PROFIBUS network.
The Siemens 6GK1503-3CA00 PROFIBUS OLM/P12 V4.0 Optical Link Module may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

Electrical PROFIBUS Connection
- Bus entry: The RS485 interface receives the electrical PROFIBUS segment.
- Telegram path: PROFIBUS traffic passes between the RS485 channel and both optical channels.
- Data rate: The configured transmission rate must match the connected PROFIBUS network.
- Segment boundary: The copper connection remains electrically separate from the fiber transmission paths.
POF and PCF Channel Structure
- Channel count: Two optical channels provide separate fiber branches.
- Socket pairing: Four BFOC sockets divide transmit and receive connections across the two channels.
- POF limit: Plastic optical fiber uses the documented shorter segment distance.
- PCF reach: Polymer-clad fiber extends the supported optical segment to the specified longer distance.
Link and Signal Supervision
- Optical level: The measuring output supports checking the received optical signal condition.
- External indication: The signaling contact can pass a module condition to an external circuit.
- Channel isolation: Separate optical paths help identify which fiber branch requires inspection.
- Rate check: A data-rate mismatch should be excluded when communication is not established.
Supply and Installation Limits
- Power source: The module uses a 24 V DC supply within the documented permissible range.
- Cabinet use: IP40 protection requires a location appropriate for the module enclosure.
- Temperature limit: The installed module must remain within 0 to +60 °C during operation.
- Fiber handling: POF or PCF cables must be routed without exceeding their connector and bend limitations.
