Features:
- S200-TB2 S200TB2 provides 16 signal terminals plus 18 internally connected 0V and 2 +24V terminals.
- Rated for 10A continuous current and 132V AC with solid or stranded AWG 20-12 wire.
- Certified for CSA Class I Div 2 and European Ex Zone 2 hazardous locations with T6 temperature code.
The S200-TB2 S200TB2 organizes field wiring into three clearly separated rows. The upper row offers 16 screw terminals (positions 0-15) dedicated to input or output signals from the attached I/O unit. The middle row provides eighteen 0V DC terminals (16-33) that are internally connected to a common reference rail, simplifying daisy-chaining of return paths. The rightmost and leftmost terminals on the middle row connect to the power supply 0V. The lower row consists of two +24V DC terminals (34 and 51) that are also internally connected, providing convenient distribution of power to field devices.
The S200-TB2 S200TB2 accommodates a wide range of wire gauges, from 0.5 mm² to 2.5 mm² (AWG 20 to AWG 12), supporting both solid and stranded copper conductors. The terminal base handles up to 10A continuous current and 132V AC maximum (rms). When the total load current of all connected I/O units remains below 10A, power supplies can be chained from one S200-TB2 S200TB2 to the next, reducing wiring complexity.
The S200-TB2 S200TB2 carries approvals for installation in potentially explosive atmospheres, including CSA certification for Class I Division 2 Groups A, B, C, D with temperature code T6, and European Ex certification for Zone 2 Group II C. These certifications allow the terminal base to be used in petrochemical facilities, refineries, and other locations where flammable gases may be present. A key switch on the S200-TB2 S200TB2 prevents insertion of incorrect I/O units into preconfigured terminal bases—the backplane code key must match the installed unit's code position.
The S200-TB2 S200TB2 ABB I/O Unit may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond
End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

- Distributed Control System (DCS) Expansion: Primarily deployed alongside classic ABB host platforms, such as SattLine, SattCon 200, and Advant Controller 250 (AC250).
- Control Cabinet Optimization: Features a compact, space-saving design suitable for mounting on standard DIN rails inside central control cabinets or localized field junction boxes.
- Industrial Infrastructure: Widely used across process industries (water treatment, chemical, pharmaceuticals, paper mills) to transition raw field cables into the automation infrastructure.
- Interlocking Backplane Bus: Multiple S200-TB2 units clip side-by-side onto a DIN rail. They plug directly into each other, automatically forming a continuous serial communication bus across the rack without the need for external backplane ribbon cables.
- Adapter Bridging: The clustered terminal bases connect to a communication adapter (head module) on the far left, which aggregates I/O data and uploads it via industrial networks like PROFIBUS DP, ControlNet, or DeviceNet.
- 2-Wire Field Connection: The "TB2" designation means it features a twin-terminal structure per channel (typically signal and common/return), optimized for standard 2-wire field transmitters and sensors.
- Finger-Safe Protection: Engineered to meet the IP20 protection rating, preventing maintenance personnel from accidentally touching live electrical components with fingers or service tools.
- Halogen-Free Materials: Built completely with halogen-free, flame-retardant thermoplastics. In the event of an extreme electrical fire, the housing will not release highly toxic halogen gases or dense smoke, meeting modern plant safety regulations.
- Environmental Directives: Fully compliant with global RoHS and WEEE directives, ensuring lead-free construction and eco-friendly recyclability at the end of its lifecycle.
