Features:
- H interface provides the internal RS-422 readback connection
- I interface supplies an isolated RS-485/RS-422 external path
- Two male nine-pin connectors keep both serial roles on one module
The H and I suffixes describe different electrical interfaces, so the two connectors cannot be exchanged even though they share the same physical pin count.
Isolation belongs only to the external I path, allowing that link to cross equipment boundaries without applying the same assumption to the internal H connection.
Baud rate and cable length are coupled on the I interface; increasing speed reduces the permitted run from kilometer scale to a shorter cabinet-to-equipment route.
The Honeywell 10024/H/I FSC Enhanced Communication Module may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

H and I connections on one module
- H path: Interface A is the H path for internal Central Part communication.
- I path: Interface B is the isolated I path for external RS-485 or RS-422 equipment.
- Connector caution: Identical connector size does not make the two paths interchangeable.
How transmission rate limits the I link
- Long run: The I interface reaches 1.2 km only at 100 Kbaud.
- High speed: At 1 Mbaud the documented maximum cable length is 120 m.
- Selection rule: Cable selection must follow the configured rate rather than the connector type alone.
Where the isolation barrier sits
- Isolation barrier: The isolated I interface provides greater than 6 kV galvanic separation.
- Internal link: The internal H interface remains non-isolated within the Central Part.
- Wiring plan: Grounding and shield planning therefore differ between the two serial paths.
Power and card-count boundaries
- Supply current: One module draws 675 mA from the 5 V DC logic supply.
- Interface count: A system supports up to sixteen I interfaces in the documented arrangement.
- Rack space: The module occupies eight HP and three U in the Central Part rack.
