Features:
- Interface Between the Universal AC Power Source and 3500 Rack
Backplane
- The T9083D "Distributed" (PRD) license enables an engineer to work on a safety system spanning multiple controllers
- Unlocks full support for all five IEC 61131-3 programming languages for developing SIL 2 / SIL 3 safety logic
The T9083D functions as a Single User Software License, often referred to as a "Hard Disk Key" in Rockwell Automation's official AADvance documentation . Unlike its counterpart, the T9083U (a physical USB dongle), the T9083D license is obtained and activated exclusively through the AADvance License Manager utility . Once activated, the license is cryptographically tied to that specific computer's hard drive.
The T9083D is licensed as the "Distributed" (PRD) version of the AADvance Workbench, specifically permitting engineering work on a system spanning multiple controllers . This differentiates it from the entry-level "Multiscan" (PRS) license (T9082D), which is limited to a single controller. The ability to manage multiple controllers from a single license is critical for larger-scale safety instrumented systems (SIS) that may be distributed across several physical chassis or process units . An engineer can seamlessly navigate between projects for different controllers, configure I/O, and program safety logic for the entire facility without needing to swap licenses.
When the T9083D license is active, the AADvance Workbench unlocks complete support for all five IEC 61131-3 programming languages: Ladder Diagram (LD), Function Block Diagram (FBD), Structured Text (ST), Instruction List (IL), and Sequential Function Chart (SFC) . This versatility allows safety engineers to select the most appropriate language for the specific task. FBD is often preferred for cause-and-effect logic in fire and gas systems, while LD is common for discrete interlock logic .
The T9083D ICS TRIPLEX Software may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond

- Plant-Wide Emergency Shutdown (ESD) Systems: Deployed across large petrochemical refineries and chemical complexes where multiple standalone AADvance control cabinets must coordinate safety interlocks across different processing units.
- Large-Scale Fire and Gas (F&G) Networks: Used in Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) terminals or mega offshore production platforms where tens of thousands of gas and flame detectors are divided across multiple local AADvance processor nodes.
- Networked Critical Utility Clusters: Integrated across combined-cycle power plants to simultaneously manage safety-critical networks for burner management systems (BMS) and independent steam/gas turbine overspeed trips.
- Legacy-to-Modern Transition: While legacy physical hardware keys (like the T9083U USB dongle) are restricted from running newer engineering suites, the T9083D Hard Disk Version natively supports upgrades to the AADvance Workbench 2.0+ architecture. This ensures a smooth migration pathway during plant lifecycle expansions.
- System Release Synchronization: Each revision of the T9083D software requires a strict matching hardware release matrix. For instance, Workbench v1.40 enforces that the T9110 processor's internal firmware be updated to Revision 1.040 or above.
- Flashing Utilities: When a hardware update is mandated, engineers deploy Rockwell Automation’s ControlFLASH software utility over the dedicated IONet industrial ethernet to safely stream certified firmware binaries directly into the EEPROM of the respective processor or I/O modules.
- Cross-Controller Layouts: In the software project tree, engineers can instantiate multiple independent Resources, with each resource binding to a unique, physical AADvance processor chassis.
- I/O Pin Assignment: Through the graphical wiring interface, users drag-and-drop modules (such as the T9402 digital input or T9451 analog output) into real slots, mapping safety parameters like filter times and line monitoring thresholds. The built-in Analyze and Upgrade diagnostic utility automatically verifies that channel reference links remain intact across the global project database.
- Interlock Logic Development: Primarily programmed using Function Block Diagrams (FBD) and Ladder Diagrams (LD). The platform features an audited safety library filled with certified functional blocks, including Cause & Effect matrices, safety timers, and multi-channel voter blocks.
