  • Real-time Status Feedback: The panel integrates multi-color LED indicators, instantly displaying input source status, output health, and module over-temperature warnings.
  • Remote Alarm Integration: Supports transmission of power fault signals to the main processor via the rack backplane, enabling second-level fault warnings on the host computer monitoring interface.
  • Load Balancing Tracking: In dual-redundancy configuration, the system automatically monitors the current distribution between the two power modules, ensuring long-term stability of the power supply system.
  • Internal Parameter Diagnosis: Built-in self-diagnostic circuitry continuously monitors internal capacitor status and voltage fluctuations, proactively predicting potential failure risks.
  • Core Rack Power Supply: Provides a stable and reliable 24VDC power supply to the CPU rack of the Tricon control system, ensuring the operation of the system's core.
  • Remote Expansion Station Support: Deployed in distributed cabling I/O expansion racks, providing independent power for remote sensing and signal processing logic.
  • High Availability Industrial Sites: Deployed in chemical and nuclear power plant control cabinets requiring "zero downtime," serving as the power foundation for the entire automation control chain.
  • Critical Interlocking Circuit Power Supply: Provides isolated and regulated safe power to the output circuits of safety systems (such as solenoid valves and relay groups).
  • Automatic Overload Cut-off: When the downstream load current exceeds the safety threshold, the module activates its self-protection mechanism to prevent overheating and potential fire hazards.
  • Redundant Fault-Tolerant Design: Supports parallel operation of two power modules; failure of either module will not cause rack shutdown, ensuring uninterrupted power supply.
  • Input Surge Suppression: Built-in high-performance filtering and lightning protection units effectively resist the impact of instantaneous high-voltage pulses from the power grid on precision electronic components.
  • Reverse Voltage Shielding: Features comprehensive reverse polarity protection to prevent physical damage to hardware caused by wiring errors during installation or maintenance.
Description
The Triconex 8311 Power Module is designed for use in Main, Expansion, and RXM chassis types, operating with a nominal voltage of 24 VDC and an input range of 22–31 VDC. It does not support AC input, and system grounding and power termination are handled through dedicated terminal strips located on the backplane. The Triconex 8311 Power Module provides regulated power conversion for all Tricon system modules.

Each Triconex 8311 Power Module is capable of delivering 6.5 VDC output with ±1% regulation under all operating conditions. It supports a maximum output current of 27 amps at 140°F (60°C) ambient temperature, with an output power rating of 175 watts at the same condition. The module is designed with a minimum output hold time of 2.8 ms when transitioning to 0 volts.

The Triconex 8311 Power Module is configured in a redundant architecture, where each Tricon chassis includes two power modules, and either module can fully support system load at rated temperature. Modules are located on the left side of the chassis and are designed for online replacement without system interruption. The Triconex 8311 Power Module converts incoming line power into DC power suitable for all system components.

Diagnostic functions of the Triconex 8311 Power Module include PASS, FAULT, ALARM, TEMP, and BAT LOW indicators. Alarm contacts are activated when a module is missing, fails, or when configuration conflicts, system faults, primary power failure, low battery, or over-temperature conditions occur. The Triconex 8311 Power Module requires a minimum incoming power rating of 240 watts per supply and supports continuous system monitoring through built-in diagnostic signals.
