Features:
- Modbus TCP/IP Client/Server Communication Interface for ControlLogix Processors
- Enables Seamless Data Exchange Between ControlLogix and Modbus Compatible Devices
- Operates in Conjunction with Rockwell Automation ControlLogix Systems and Modbus Networks
The MVI56E-MNET operates as the Modbus TCP/IP Client/Server Communication Module in a ControlLogix rack, providing reliable communication capabilities between the processor and Modbus TCP/IP networks. It continuously facilitates data exchange through a 5000-word register space that transfers information between the ControlLogix processor and connected Modbus compatible devices. Seamless integration is standard with the MVI56E-MNET, allowing direct communication with Modicon Programmable Automation Controllers (PACs) as well as a wide variety of instruments and devices without protocol conversion complexity. The MVI56E-MNET has established robust connectivity solutions for industrial automation environments requiring Modbus TCP/IP protocol support.
The MVI56E-MNET provides essential communication functions common to the entire Modbus network integration, and is a critical component of the data exchange path, directly affecting the proper, normal operation of the overall communication system. One MVI56E-MNET module is required per ControlLogix rack to establish Modbus TCP/IP connectivity. The MVI56E-MNET occupies a standard slot in the ControlLogix rack and interfaces directly with the processor through the backplane connection.
For standard process applications, the MVI56E-MNET delivers full client/server functionality supporting both master and slave operations on the Modbus TCP/IP network. In addition to standard communication operation, the MVI56E-MNET configuration also performs automatic data synchronization. The MVI56E-MNET communication configuration executes data transfer using the internal register mapping specified in the module configuration. Using this method, the MVI56E-MNET continually monitors the data exchange between the ControlLogix processor and Modbus network devices. If the system detects communication requests from either the processor side or the network side, it will automatically process the data transfer and update the corresponding register locations in the 5000-word memory space.
The MVI56E-MNET PROSOFT Communication Module may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).
