More Information

Overview Manuals Pulse Channels Power Supply Thermal Limits Indicators

Features:

  • Amplifies six ESEL commands for the bridge SCR gates.
  • Serves EX2100 modules using 77 mm or smaller thyristors.
  • Monitors firing, conduction, airflow and thermal conditions.
General Electric IS200EGPAG1A Exciter Gate Pulse Amplifier Board is the six-channel gate interface for the smaller EX2100 bridge arrangement.

A nominal 125 V dc feed is converted on the board to support the firing amplifier circuits.

Dual heat-sink switches add separate alarm and trip responses for excessive temperature.

Quotation support and available GE literature are offered by Apter Power for the General Electric IS200EGPAG1A Exciter Gate Pulse Amplifier Board.

IS200EGPAG1A Pulse Channels

  • Command count: Six signals arrive from the ESEL gate-control board.
  • Output duty: Each amplifier path drives one SCR gate in the bridge.
  • Module allocation: One EGPA board is installed per applicable power conversion module.
  • Fault trace: The affected command and firing output should be followed as a matched channel.

IS200EGPAG1A Power Supply

  • Source: The EPDM provides a nominal 125 V dc input.
  • Conversion: An onboard dc-to-dc stage develops gate-pulse power.
  • Shared effect: A supply loss can affect more than one firing channel.
  • Verification: Gate-supply and line-filter indications help isolate the power path.

IS200EGPAG1A Thermal Limits

  • Bridge range: The board is intended for 77 mm or smaller thyristors.
  • Alarm point: One retrofit heat-sink switch changes state at 76 C.
  • Trip point: The second thermal switch initiates action at 87 C.
  • Model distinction: This dual-switch feature is not assigned to the 100 mm EHPA design.

IS200EGPAG1A Indicators

  • Firing status: Output LEDs show activity for the six gate-pulse channels.
  • Bridge current: Dedicated indications support SCR conduction checks.
  • Auxiliary states: Gate supply, line filter and fan conditions are displayed.
  • Thermal review: Temperature, alarm and fault indications guide overheat diagnosis.
Description

General Electric IS200EGPAG1A is an Exciter Gate Pulse Amplifier Board for EX2100 power conversion modules built with 77 mm or smaller thyristors. It receives six gate commands from the ESEL board and produces the amplified pulses needed to fire the six bridge SCRs.

One IS200EGPAG1A is assigned to each applicable power conversion module. A nominal 125 V dc feed from the EPDM reaches the board, where an onboard dc-to-dc converter develops the gate-pulse power required by the amplifier circuits.

In addition to pulse amplification, IS200EGPAG1A participates in SCR conduction, airflow and bridge-temperature monitoring. Output-firing, bridge-current, gate-supply, line-filter, fan and temperature indications give technicians distinct checkpoints while tracing a missing firing pulse or a bridge alarm.

The IS200EGPAG1A design also supports two retrofit thermal switches mounted on the heat sink: one provides an alarm at 76 C and the second initiates a trip at 87 C. That thermal-switch provision and the 77 mm-or-smaller bridge assignment are important distinctions when comparing EGPA with the EHPA hardware used on 100 mm bridges.

Technical notes
The 76 C alarm and 87 C trip thermal-switch retrofit applies to IS200EGPAG1A; the EHPA board for 100 mm bridges does not use this option.

FAQS

The following is a list of questions commonly asked by our customers. Please contact us if you have a question about our process that is not answered below.
How can IS200EGPAG1A be checked when one SCR does not fire?
Trace that IS200EGPAG1A ESEL command, firing indication and gate lead before checking the shared supply.
Which bridge size is correct for IS200EGPAG1A?
IS200EGPAG1A serves EX2100 modules with 77 mm or smaller thyristors, not the 100 mm arrangement.
Why does IS200EGPAG1A need the EPDM supply?
IS200EGPAG1A converts the nominal 125 V dc input into power for its six gate-pulse channels.
What do the two IS200EGPAG1A thermal switches protect against?
IS200EGPAG1A uses a 76 C alarm switch and an 87 C trip switch for heat-sink temperature.
Can IS200EGPAG1A and EHPA be treated as the same board?
No. IS200EGPAG1A serves smaller thyristors, while EHPA is assigned to the 100 mm bridge.
What feedback helps diagnose an IS200EGPAG1A bridge alarm?
Review IS200EGPAG1A conduction, airflow, temperature, firing-output and bridge-current indications.
How many IS200EGPAG1A boards belong in each applicable PCM?
GE specifies one IS200EGPAG1A for each power conversion module using the smaller bridge design.
