Features:
- Provides Flexible And Redundant Field Connections For High-Integrity Systems
- Supports Dual Digital Input Modules With Clear Wiring And Fuse Organization
- Ensures Reliable Operation Across Wide Temperature, Humidity, And Shock Conditions
The ICS Triplex T9802 Digital Input Termination Assembly is engineered to link field wiring to digital input modules in Trusted® and AADvance high-integrity systems. Supporting 16 dual-configured channels, it allows flexible allocation of inputs and simplifies integration in redundant or fault-tolerant architectures. Unlike the earlier T9801 simplex termination assembly, the T9802 enables dual module operation, providing higher system reliability and channel redundancy.
Designed for robust industrial use, the T9802 operates over a voltage range of 18–32 Vdc with a maximum current of 6.5 mA per channel. It maintains functionality in challenging environments from –25 °C to +60 °C and can tolerate storage and transport temperatures from –40 °C to +70 °C. Relative humidity tolerance is 10% to 95% RH non-condensing, and the assembly is rated to withstand vibration at 5–9 Hz and shock up to 15 g peak, 11 ms duration. These environmental and mechanical tolerances surpass those of older simplex modules like T9801, ensuring reliable operation in demanding field conditions.
The T9802 features a printed circuit with screw terminal blocks for field wiring, module connectors, and optional fuses with labeled covers for easy identification. Field wiring connectors are arranged for intuitive installation, reducing wiring errors and simplifying maintenance. By supporting dual configurations, the T9802 enhances fault tolerance and provides more flexible system design compared to T9801, making it ideal for SIL 3 or other high-integrity industrial applications.
The T9802 ICS Triplex Digital Input Termination Assembly may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

- Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS): Serving as the core signal input for Emergency Shutdown Systems (ESD) and Fire & Gas Detection (F&G), connecting to pressure, level, flame, or smoke switches in the field.
- Critical Process Control: Used in the oil and gas, refining, offshore platform, and power industries, handling high-reliability 24V DC digital input signals.
- Triple Signal Acquisition: With the Trusted architecture, it securely transmits single-point or multi-point sensor signals from the field to the controller via TMR (Triple Modular Redundancy) logic.
- High-Density Cabling Environments: Provides neat, robust screw or spring terminal connections for 40 digital inputs within confined control cabinet space.
- Module Compatibility: Designed specifically for the Trusted T8403 (40-channel TMR digital input module) and T8402 modules.
- Cable Matching: Connects to the back of the controller chassis via the TC-201 series 40-channel I/O dedicated cable.
- Redundancy Support: Fully supports Companion Slot mode, allowing two I/O modules (master/slave) to achieve physical parallel connection through the same T9802 cable, supporting hot standby and seamless switching.
- Physical Integration: Mounts on standard DIN rails, allowing seamless integration into most standard industrial cabinets and control panels.
- Functional Safety Certification: TÜV Rheinland certified, fully compliant with IEC 61508 SIL 3 safety level requirements.
- Hazardous Area Certification: Supports deployment in Class I, Division 2 (Groups A, B, C, D) and ATEX Zone 2 hazardous environments.
- Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC): Compliant with EN 61326-1 standards, providing strong resistance to industrial noise and electromagnetic interference, ensuring undistorted signals.
- Environmental Compliance: Circuit board assemblies typically feature a G3 conformal coating, meeting the stringent environmental standards of ANSI/ISA-S71.04.
