Features:
- 6ES7215-1AG31-0XB0 accepts a 20.4–28.8 V DC supply and uses DC transistor outputs.
- The onboard signal set includes digital I/O, voltage inputs and current outputs.
- Two RJ45 ports share the integrated PROFINET communication interface.
The CPU keeps 100 KB of executable work data available while 4 MB of integrated load memory stores the project content.
Selectable input delays and dedicated high-speed channels separate standard field sensing from counting tasks.
Local expansion can add signal, communication and plug-in signal-board functions within the documented module limits.
The Siemens 6ES7215-1AG31-0XB0 CPU 1215C DC/DC/DC may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

Local Signal Arrangement
- Digital sensing: Fourteen 24 V DC inputs bring discrete field states directly into the CPU.
- Digital actuation: Ten transistor outputs switch 24 V DC loads, with external short-circuit protection required.
- Analog acquisition: Two voltage inputs accept 0–10 V signals through twisted, shielded cabling.
- Analog command: Two current outputs deliver 0–20 mA references to connected devices.
Counting and Pulse Paths
- Counter inputs: Six digital inputs can be assigned to high-speed counting instead of standard input service.
- Frequency groups: Single-phase counter channels are divided between 100 kHz and 30 kHz operation.
- Pulse outputs: Four onboard outputs can generate pulse trains at up to 100 kHz.
- Project assignment: STEP 7 selects the technological role and timing for each dedicated channel.
Ethernet Communication Flow
- Physical access: Two RJ45 sockets provide the cable entry points for the integrated PROFINET interface.
- Controller role: PROFINET IO controller functions exchange cyclic data with configured devices.
- Open communication: TCP/IP, ISO-on-TCP and UDP carry supported Ethernet data outside cyclic I/O.
- Service access: The web server and S7 communication use the same onboard network hardware.
Station Growth Rules
- Signal modules: Up to eight modules extend the local input and output capacity.
- Communication modules: No more than three communication modules can be assigned to the station.
- Plug-in board: One signal board adds a compact function without consuming a side-module position.
- Project boundary: The STEP 7 hardware configuration must remain within all three expansion limits.
