Features:
- Eight fail-safe 24 V DC inputs share a 15 mm ET 200SP module format.
- Individual encoder-supply outputs support monitored sensor circuits.
- Channel diagnostics and status LEDs identify input and supply conditions.
The F-DI channels are parameterized as part of an ET 200SP safety configuration rather than used as ordinary standard inputs.
A type A0 BaseUnit provides the field-terminal interface while the backplane bus carries process and diagnostic data to the station.
Counter operation is available on one channel when the configured task requires pulse acquisition within the documented frequency limit.
The Siemens 6ES7136-6BA01-0CA0 Fail-safe Digital Input Module may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

How the eight inputs are evaluated
- Sourcing circuits: Each channel accepts a sourcing input path within the specified 24 V DC signal ranges.
- P-reading: The parameter set also supports P-reading arrangements for the documented sensor connection.
- Delay selection: Input delay is assigned per configuration so contact behavior and signal timing are evaluated consistently.
- Counter channel: One input can provide up/down counting without converting all eight channels into counter inputs.
Managing the encoder supplies
- Channel association: Every digital input is paired with an encoder-supply output.
- Current boundary: The per-channel and module-wide current limits apply together when several sensors are powered.
- Fault detection: Short-circuit and overload monitoring distinguishes sensor-supply faults from an input-state change.
- Common planning: Sensor wiring must preserve the channel assignment used by the safety parameters.
Integrating the module into the F-program
- Safety class: The configured input path supports applications up to PL e, Category 4, and SIL 3.
- Parameter record: Safety behavior follows the assigned F-parameters rather than a fixed hardware-only mode.
- Process image: Input and status bytes are transferred through the ET 200SP station to the fail-safe CPU.
- Software scope: TIA Safety engineering and the supported GSDML level determine how the module is commissioned.
Separating status from channel faults
- Module state: RUN and ERROR indicators report the operating state of the electronic module.
- Supply state: The PWR indication shows whether the required module supply is present.
- Channel feedback: Individual channel LEDs expose field-state information without replacing diagnostic messages.
- Reported faults: Channel and module diagnostics travel through the backplane bus for evaluation by the controller.
