Features:
- High‑density temperature measurement; 31 sensor inputs plus 1 reference channel; direct connection of Pt100 sensors without external converters.
- Designed for ABB S100 I/O systems; works with Advant Controller 450, AC460, MasterPiece 200/200/1, 800xA, and Compact Product Suite.
- Not RoHS compliant; exempt for Advant Master Process Control Systems spare parts; legal for legacy system maintenance.
The DSAI146 provides an industry‑leading 31 channels for Pt100 RTD temperature sensors, plus one reference channel. Pt100 sensors are the most common resistance temperature detectors in industrial applications, offering accurate and stable temperature measurement from -200°C to +850°C. With 31 channels on a single module, the DSAI146 eliminates the need for multiple 4‑ or 8‑channel input modules, saving significant rack space in legacy ABB S100 I/O systems. This high density is particularly valuable in power plants (monitoring bearing temperatures, winding temperatures, exhaust gases), chemical facilities (reactor temperatures, pipe temperatures), and HVAC systems (multiple zone monitoring).
The DSAI146 is specifically designed for ABB's S100 I/O platform, a legacy system used with Advant Controller 450 (Version 2.3), AC460, MasterPiece 200 and 200/1, 800xA, Advant OCS, and Compact Product Suite. These controllers remain in operation in thousands of industrial facilities worldwide, particularly in power generation, pulp and paper, oil and gas, and marine applications. The DSAI146 allows these legacy systems to continue monitoring Pt100 temperature inputs without migrating to newer I/O platforms – a process that could cost millions and require extensive downtime.
The DSAI146 is explicitly not RoHS compliant and is exempt from EU Directive 2011/65/EU under Article 2(4)(c),(e),(f),(j). This exemption applies to spare parts for ABB Advant Master Process Control Systems that were placed on the market before RoHS restrictions took effect. As a result, the DSAI146 may contain restricted substances such as lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd), or hexavalent chromium (Cr6+). However, this exemption is critical for operators of legacy ABB systems – it allows the continued sale, installation, and use of this module as a spare part to keep existing plants running. The declaration of conformity reference is 3BSE088609.
The DSAI146 ABB Analog Input Unit may still be available for purchase and support from Apter Power beyond
End-Of-Life (EOL)by the manufacturer (OEM).

- Heavy Industry and Process Control: Monitoring numerous temperature points in chemical plants, power plants, or refineries, such as reactor wall temperatures or heat distribution in large boilers.
- Energy Management: Collecting temperature data from generator windings or transformers in power monitoring systems.
- Marine Engineering: Suitable for ship automation systems and monitoring panels, often installed in marine PLC control cabinets.
- Operating Temperature: Supports typical industrial ranges (typically 0 to +55 °C), exhibiting excellent thermal adaptability and operating in standard environments without additional cooling equipment.
- Installation: Utilizes S100 I/O rack mounting. Modules are typically paired with specific connection units (such as DSTA 131) and communicate with the controller via the backplane.
- Protection Rating: The modules themselves are typically installed in racks with an IP20 or higher protection rating, resisting dust and electromagnetic interference in industrial environments.
- High-Precision Acquisition: Features 12-bit + sign resolution and supports 3-wire Pt100 connections, effectively compensating for impedance errors caused by long-distance cables.
- Comprehensive Self-Diagnosis: The module panel is equipped with LED indicators, providing real-time feedback on the operating status of each channel and the module as a whole.
- Fault Tracking: Detects open-circuit or short-circuit faults in sensor lines and reports error codes to the central controller (e.g., AC 450).
